How we handle education
Why?
There is always a chance that someone leaves your company. That tells us at least one thing. The employee is well-trained enough so he will be able to take on new challenges. Mission accomplished for the most part. When the opposite is true: employees who literally can’t leave, you would have a much bigger problem.
The key to keeping our employees from leaving is not only to train them well enough. We also treat them the best we can so they don’t want to leave! Therefore personal growth is highly valued at Digital Unity.
Coaching
First of all, we believe in personal coaching. Together with your personal coach(es) at Digital Unity, we create a growth plan. This is a roadmap on things you want to accomplish in your career. What would be the next steps to achieve that goal? Where are your strengths and weaknesses? Digital Unity coaches you to achieve your goals and dreams.
Knowledge Sharing Sessions
Regularly, we sit together to share. We share some lessons learned from our projects and interesting topics you’ve read about or heard about at a convention. We share our knowledge. It makes sure it’s not only about personal growth, but also to grow as a community. By sharing, we accelerate personal growth by working together.
Transparent budget
Our company culture values transparency. It also applies to our educational budget. No strings attached, no exceptions on rules. Just one easy formula to calculate your yearly educational budget. Each year you have a gross monthly wage extra to spend to educate yourself. Use it or lose it!
Complete freedom
Every Digital Unity member is free to spend his educational budget how he wishes. We will not limit you to specific topics or “books only”-policies. We even go as far as to say “yes, even for cooking lessons!”.
The purpose of having an educational budget is to support personal growth. Imagine you are having issues focusing on work due to your unhealthy lifestyle. Why should we not support your quest to learn to cook more healthily? Why should we limit to, for example, programming only courses?
No limits!
No limits! No limits in topics but also in the way you want to learn. Books, conventions, workshops, online courses, and so on. Every person has his way/method to learn, so you should use the way that works best for you.
